11/26-消防操法競技大会県大会応援に
暗くて寒い夜明け前の朝5:30集合で、取手消防署に向いました。この日は、取手市の
大会、北相馬地区大会を勝ち抜いた我が取手市の消防団第26分団が茨城県大会に
出場する日でした。主要な選手や取り巻きは、前日泊で会場入りで、前日泊が出来ない
選手や団員は、ポンプ車で当日入りの予定だったので、我々も応援＆手伝いのために
眠い目をこすりながら、消防署で第26分団のポンプ車の到着を待ちました。
6時近くなってきた頃ようやく、きれいに磨かれた第26分団のポンプ車が姿を現しました
が、4人乗っているはずが2人の姿しか見えませんでした。時間も遅くなっていたので
心配しておりましたが、やはり肝心な選手（=1番員）が寝坊して、未だ起きないでいる
とのこと。ポンプ車が遅刻しては競技に支障がでるので、ポンプ車は先に行って
もらって、私の車がその選手の家の方に回りました。既に26分団の分団員が窓やら
扉やらを叩いて起こしているようでしたが、反応なく（周りの家の人はかなり反応して
いたようですが…）根気強く携帯を鳴らして起こしていました。やっと起きたらしく、
ねぼけ眼で本人が現れ、すぐさま用意して車に乗り込みました。
本人もこの事態（失態）にはかなりびっくりしたらしく、興奮冷めやらぬといった様子
でした。看板が分かりにくく、少し迷ったものの７時半過ぎには無事会場である
消防学校に到着。前日入り組みと合流して準備やホース検査、車両検査等手伝い
ました。8時半から開会式で出場9チームの選手入場から始まって、前回（ちなみに
県大会は2年に1回開催）優勝チームからの優勝旗返還やら、来賓祝辞など淡々と行われ
（市の大会の開会式よりもずっと進行が早い）、9:30からは競技がスタートしました。
トップバッターは隣接町である伊奈町。前回大会の優勝チームらしく、技というよりも
とにかくスピードが速いチームでした。全体的にもまとまっており、上位に入ってくる
だろうと思わせる競技でした。（さすがに県大会はレベルが高い！）取手市は4番目で、
すぐに順番が回ってきました。私はビデオ撮影をしていたので、近くで選手たちの様子
を見ることは出来ませんでしたが、液晶画面越しに覗いた印象では、いい緊張感を
持っているような、引き締まった表情をしておりました。『操法開始』審査員のこの
言葉で競技スタート。1線と呼ばれる、1番員と2番員の操作はスピードに乗って、
ホースのつなぎも速く、水ののりもバッチリで水出しも速かったです。が、いつも速く
くるはずの3番員が中々来なくて、少し不安になりました。2線も新人2番員の頑張りで
水出しも速く、問題なく終わりました。9月から3ヶ月間の日夜の訓練の成果が思う存分
発揮できたと思いました。取手市のチームが終わってからは、他のチームを気楽に
見ておりましたが、最後から2番目に行われた、優勝候補石下町チームは、圧巻でした。
乗車時から操作員の所作が揃っていて、スピードもさることながら、操作も万全で
まさに完璧な競技（というか演技のようでした）をやっていました。
前評判通りというか、予想通り石下町チームの優勝。その他8チームは敢闘賞でした。
帰りも常磐道は空いていて、茨城町東ICで高速にのって30分足らずで谷田部に到着。
2時過ぎには取手に帰りつきました。今回の県大会での操法競技を見たことは、必ずや
来年の私の操法競技につながるし、つなげなくてはいけないと改めて感じました。
とりあえず、26分団、そして応援団の皆様長い間お疲れ様でした！
