10/2-決戦の時（消防操法大会当日）
前日の朝訓練同様、6時に集合して会場であり、これまで毎晩訓練を重ねてきた
競輪場に向いました。天気予報では、“夏日”に逆戻りするほど暑くなると
言われておりましたが、予報通りのピーカンを想像させるほど、暖かい朝でした。
既に5、6個分団ぐらいのポンプ車が到着しており、中には本コースで訓練を行っている
分団もありました。既に前夜、我々第3分団と26分団の応援席は確保してあったので、
そこでテーピングをしてもらったり、コンビニのおにぎりを食べたりして
リラックスしておりました。それからまもなく7時より開会式のリハーサルが、
8時からは開会式が始まりました。30分程度でセレモニーも終了し、早くも競技が
スタートしました。我々は、ラッキー7の7番目で1コース。（コースは1コースと
2コースがあり、その1コースの方）待っている間、ウォーミングアップと“集まれ”
や“番号”の練習を選手だけで行っておりました。アップや軽い練習も終わり、
少し他の分団の競技を見たりしておりましたが、他分団の3番員の操作ミスが分かる
ほど、自分では緊張しながらも落ち着いておりました。いよいよ我々第3分団の
出番となりました。選手が輪になって『がんばっていきまっしょい、しょい』の
掛け声で気持ちを一つにして、整列し、アナウンスを待ちました。「第3分団 3番員
藤沢数義」と呼ばれ、「ハイ」の掛け声とともに、待機線に入りました。
競技がスタートしました。事前に、「大会ではいつもよりも大きく」、「見せるところ
はしっかりと見せる」等々先輩方にアドバイスを頂いておりましたので、これまでの
訓練の集大成のつもりで、慌てることもなく落ち着いて競技することができました。
全部で10分足らずという短い競技も、あっという間に終わりました。自分自身納得の
いく、これまでの訓練の成果を十分に発揮できた操法だったと思います。終わった後、
各選手の顔を見たら、各選手とも充実感に満ちたいい顔をしておりました。
応援してくれた方々も「良かった」と褒めて頂き、終わったこととうまくできたことで
ホッとしました。それから気温もうなぎ上り、晴天の中、ビールやらチューハイを
飲みながら、各分団の競技を見ておりました。最後から3番目にようやく“真打登場”
とばかりに優勝候補筆頭の第26分団の登場です。2日に1度や昼訓練などすごさを間近で
見てきておりましたが、訓練よりも固くなっているのか、かなり丁寧に競技している
という印象が強かったです。そんなに丁寧に競技しながらも、圧倒的なタイムで優勝を
確実なものにしました。ポンプ車の部20個分団、小型ポンプの部17個分団全ての競技が
終了し、採点集計が長引くのかと思いきや、すぐに集計結果が出されたらしく、
5分も経たないうちに閉会式が始まりました。結果発表です。ポンプ車の部では、
優勝から6位までが入賞ということで表彰されます。優勝は下馬評通り第26分団。
2位には成長著しい第8分団。3位には常に上位には食い込む第6分団。メダルも入賞も
なし、かと思った瞬間、4位第34分団、5位第3分団、6位第1分団の発表がありました。
聞き間違いかと思ったほど嬉しかった、「5位第3分団」の声。ここ2年ぐらい
着外が多かったので、この5位入賞は価値ある入賞だと思います。身体が殊更固く、
不器用で覚えの悪いオールドルーキーを1ヶ月間見放さず、気長にご指導してくれた
皆さんにも第5位という結果ではありますが、多少は喜んで頂けたんじゃないかと
思います。また私にとって、ルーキーイヤーでの5位入賞はことのほか嬉しくもあり、
来年に繋がる第5位となりました。この1ヶ月かなり苦しい訓練ではありましたが、
こうやって結果となって表れると素直に嬉しいものです。来年は、メダル獲得
（メダル圏内）が至上命題となることが予想されますので、もし選手に選ばれたら
頑張りたいと思います。とにもかくにも昨年の様に途中リタイアせず、無事やり
通せてよかったです。ホッ！！
